The required lines
Your name, job title, manager’s name, and last day. One sentence that you are resigning. That is the whole letter if you want it to be.
Two weeks
Two weeks is a custom in a lot of US jobs. It is not a statute. Read your contract or handbook. If you owe more notice, put that date. We do not interpret your contract.
Do not vent
The exit interview is optional. The resignation is not a review of leadership. If you need to say something sharp, say it to a friend. HR will keep the letter.
